Other Players have tried to make 1:1 scale models of the forbidden city. These however have been proven as all false by direct observation. For example. A common image used as a blueprint is
There is two main flaws in the diagram.
- Firstly, Wikipedia shows and by direct observation by myself shows that in real life, the outer walls are 8 meters thick and the small inner walls to be 2 meters thick. But in the diagram the outer walls are 4 pixels thick and 1pixel thick respectively. This shows that players under the misconceptions of 1pixel = 1 block have made their projects half the size they should be and not true 1:1 ratio. (Mojang has said in the past that the scale is 1 cubic block = 1 cubic meter)
- Secondly is the image above shows is only 1/3 of the offical forbidden city, there is two major section to the north (that the emperor’s used as a park) and to the south (the national religous dieties) the temples. This means players have only built the Inner Palace and not the entire complex.
If we use the above diagram as a blueprint for the inner palace it would need a 2×2 square in-game for every pixel. Including The northern and southern sections this will be 1664 x 700 in size and will need approximately 22.3 million blocks. We will also be doing the entire forbidden city, including the north and south sections that no one has every constructed before, making it include everything thats included in the Forbidden City if you visit it again.

Go to server game.minecraftworlds.info and ask any players online for directions. The project will be land protected in segments to protect from griefers, but there will allways be something to edit without the need to ask permissions.
You can also see the progress via the Game Map at http://game.minecraftworlds.com:8123/ .Move your cursor to the right side to bring up the info panel, click on the player “Bohtauri” and If im online it’ll center the map on me, I’ll be working on the forbidden city for 99% of the time im on.
Planning to take 4 months to complete if I get enough help.
Highly used materials to be as realistic to the real-world one will be
- Red Wool
- Yellow Wool
- Pine Leaves
- Redwood Wood
- Brick Blocks
I will be using superpick and a flymod But volunteers will not be using any game mods. All blocks will be hand collected and placed.
Fattening the land manually will take over 800 man-hours (a.k.a get real!) so we will be worldediting the land flat. We will also spawn a rail system to follow the imperial line to help volunteers to get to it reasier.
I live in Beijing at the moment, so I can take trips to the forbidden city to verify shapes and layouts that aren’t found on the internet or Google maps. (Including all those nooks and crannies)
